John Andrews Recording Of A Possible Sasquatch
John Andrews recording of a possible Sasquatch. It is what I heard when I was 11 years old. John’s recording was at least a half mile away. What I heard was fifty feet or less. What I heard was powerful enough to knock me down. It vocalized for about the same length of time, about 12 seconds. I know I am biased but that vocal has never left my mind and I am so happy John recorded something for me to compare, my memory and his recording.
A while ago I asked Radio host Bill Lee if he could attempt to duplicate the recording. He has a very good voice and thought if anybody could duplicate John’s recording Bill just might do it. Bill gave it a whirl and sent me back a file. What I found interesting is his rendition was only about 6 seconds long…. I called him up and asked him about that. He said in order to get the volume he belted it out as loud as possible. He said David 6 seconds is as long as I could sustain the volume without cracking. So in order for me to make the comparison equal I had to edit Bill’s vocalization. I did a little cut and paste to make Bill’s vocalization last as long as the Unknown Subject.
The real story is the visual comparison. This is where it all comes together. When looking at the spectrographic image for both vocalizations there are similarities and very definite differences. What amazed me was Bill’s ability to nail the main fundamental. This is where the bulk of sound resides. The other observation is the Upper and Lower Harmonics. Let’s start with the Upper Harmonics. Bill has numerous upper harmonics but only three match the unknown subject. I find it curious that there are no Upper Harmonics past the 1300Hz for the unknown subject. Bill on the other hand has numerous Harmonics. Looking at the Lower Harmonic for Bill, he has a very loud and bold appearance. Yet the unknown subject has none at all.
Are these characteristics the difference between a person and a sasquatch? Don’t know, but they are suspicious characteristics that are on my radar. Let’s see if a pattern emerges.
